In the cold, sterile environment of City Hospital, the faint beeping of monitors echoed through the air. Bright surgical lights illuminated the operating room as a team of doctors worked tirelessly. Standing at the head of the table, with her eyes narrowed in fierce concentration, was Dr. Avani, a renowned neurosurgeon.
The tension in the room was palpable, but Avani’s calm demeanor was unshaken. Every movement of her skilled hands was precise, her focus unwavering. Hours had passed, yet fatigue hadn’t touched her. The critical surgery had demanded everything she had, and as the last suture was placed, a sigh of relief echoed from her juniors.
“Vitals are stable,” one of them announced softly, breaking the heavy silence.
Avani’s eyes scanned the monitor, ensuring that her patient was indeed safe. “Good job, everyone,” she said, her voice steady but carrying the authority of someone who had just pulled a man back from the edge of death.
As she stepped back, finally allowing herself to breathe, her assistant placed a clean towel in her hand. Avani wiped the sweat off her forehead, her eyes reflecting exhaustion mixed with satisfaction. Another life saved.
---
As Avani walked out of the operation theater, her shoulders finally relaxed. But just as she was about to head toward her office, a familiar figure engulfed her in a tight hug.
“Mil gaya time iss mahan atma ko?” Avani’s voice was laced with playful sarcasm and she didn’t reciprocate the hug.
“Matlab koi itna busy bhi ho sakta hai kya yaar, ki apni bestie ki calls tak ignore kar de?! Woh bhi dono besties ki!”
Saira Chauhan, her best friend and a skilled heart surgeon, pulled back, pouting dramatically.
“Arey yaar… Tu toh jaanti hai na ki surgery me kitna time lagta hai. Sach mein karne wali thi call… lekin hospital ki formalities ne jaan le li!” Saira explained, her innocent doe eyes pleading for mercy.
Avani crossed her arms, her lips twitching as she fought back a smile. “Haan haan…koi baat ni. Waise bhi, mere gusse ka badla Ishika khud le legi. Aur tab main nahi bachaane wali.”
Saira’s eyes widened in mock horror and Avani smirked, enjoying her bestie’s panic.

In the Canteen:-
Minutes later, the two best friends were sitting in the hospital’s canteen, indulging in a much-needed coffee break.
Saira was halfway through her rant about hospital politics when the echo of clicking heels echoed in the silent corridor and a familiar voice cut through the air.
“Toh yeh chal raha h?”
Avani and Saira turned to see Ishika Sharma, their third partner-in-crime, walking toward them, a playful smirk on her lips.
Avani grinned. “Lo aa gayi sherni!!" and a chill ran down Saira’s spine.
Ishika stood near the table, arms crossed, her perfectly shaped eyebrows arched in mock annoyance. Her raven-black hair framed her sharp face, her piercing gaze making Saira fumble on the spot.
Ishika (raising an eyebrow):
“Main soch rahi thi ki aaj mujhe bina wajah gussa kyun aa raha hai… Ab samajh aaya.”
Saira instinctively moved behind Avani, using her as a human shield.
Saira (whispering):
“Bacha le yaar…”
Avani (deadpan):
“Kaha tha maine… main nahi bachane wali!”
Ishika (stepping closer):
“Kya zaroori kaam tha Saira? Jo do din tak call tak nahi uthai?”
Saira (stammering):
“Woh… woh… surgery… formalities… patients…”
Her voice trailed off, realizing none of it was going to convince Ishika.
Ishika (rolling her eyes):Really!? Ab ye sab hmse bhi jyda jroori ho gya!??
Avani bit her lip, trying not to laugh and whispered
“Mazaa aa raha hai…”
Saira (muttering):
“Tum dono ki dosti… mujhe le doobegi ek din!”
At this both of them laughed
and just like that, the tension melted away
Saira gave them a sheepish smile saying,"Mujhe pta tha tum dono jyda der gussa ni hone wali mrse, afterall you are my lovely besties."
Ishika rolled her eyes and took a seat beside them.“Waise tu yahan kya kar rahi hai? Avani asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ishika leaned back, running her fingers through her hair. “Vo team ne decide Kiya tha… ki hospital m thodi donation kr dete h,Wahi formalities ke liye aayi thi.”
Saira whistled softly. “Oho… CEO mode on!”
Ishika smirked. “Someone has to maintain the standards, right?”
For the next half hour, the trio sat there, catching up and enjoying their little escape from their chaotic lives.
---
As the clock ticked, it was finally time to leave.
“Chalo, ghar chalte hain. Mere saath chalo, main car leke aayi hoon,” Ishika offered, stretching her arms.
“Main aa jaaungi. Mujhe Blaze se milna hai,” Avani said casually.
The other two nodded in agreement and headed toward home
—
Avani drove down a familiar path, her heart pounding softly in anticipation. She pulled up near a small but beautiful stable, nestled in a quiet, hidden part of the city. As she stepped inside, the warm glow of fairy lights lit up the place, casting a magical aura.
“Blaze…” she called softly.
The moonlight softly illuminates the surroundings, adding a mysterious charm to the atmosphere.
A soft neigh echoed as Blaze, her majestic horse, trotted toward her. His dark coat shimmered under the lights, and his soulful eyes locked onto hers.
“Missed me, buddy?” Avani whispered, her voice filled with affection.
Blaze moved closer, gently brushing his head against her shoulder, making her chuckle softly.
“I know, I know… It’s been days. But I had to save someone’s life first, right?” She traced her fingers along his mane, feeling the tension in her body slowly disappear.
Blaze huffed softly, as if he understood her words. Avani’s lips curled into a smile.
“You’re the only one who listens without asking questions, aren’t you?” she murmured, her forehead gently resting against his. “But don’t worry… I’m back now.”
For a while, Avani stood there, lost in the moment, as Blaze’s steady breathing calmed her restless mind. Her fingers absentmindedly traced the intricate pattern of his bridle, her mind wandering to thoughts she wasn’t ready to confront yet.
“Come on now, let’s get you some treats,” she finally said, breaking the silence. Blaze neighed softly, following her as she moved to the storage corner to fetch his favorite snacks.

By the time Avani returned home, both Ishika and Saira had already freshened up. As Avani walked into the living room, she saw Ishika slumped dramatically on the couch, throwing her head back.
“I swear, if someone asks me to even lift a spoon, I’ll file a complaint for cruelty!” Ishika groaned, her tone full of exhaustion.
Saira, who was sitting beside her, nodded in agreement.
Avani smirked and placed the food packets on the table.
“That’s why I knew this would happen… So I bought food on the way.”
Both Ishika and Saira’s heads shot up instantly.
“Avani Oberoi… You’re a literal angel!!” Saira clapped her hands together as if worshiping her.
“Our savior!” Ishika chimed in with mock devotion.
“Drama queens,” Avani muttered with a smile, shaking her head as she walked toward her room to freshen up.
—
After a while, all three were gathered around the dining table, eating and discussing their hectic day. Laughter echoed as they teased each other about work and responsibilities.
Just as Avani was about to mention something about her surgery, Saira’s eyes lit up with sudden excitement.
“Guys, listen!” she exclaimed, sitting up straight. “It’s been ages since we’ve gone on a trip together! We need a break! Let’s go somewhere!”
Avani, leaned back with a thoughtful smile.
“Hmm… a trip doesn’t sound bad,” she said, looking at Saira. “We do need a change.”
Ishika raised an eyebrow, her expression instantly turning skeptical.
“Trip? And who’s going to manage my clients? I’m already drowning in work.”
Both of them turned to Ishika, now showing their puppy eyes to her.
“Oh no… Don’t look at me like that!” Ishika tried to resist but failed miserably as Avani and Saira’s puppy eyes stared her down.
“Ishika Sharma… You’re so damn workaholic! Give yourself a break, woman!” Saira teased, nudging her playfully.
“Yeah, come on… Life is more than meetings and deals,” Avani added with a smirk.
“Ugh! Fine! I’ll come,” Ishika finally gave in, rolling her eyes. “But please… don’t create chaos like last time.”
“Impossible event, my dear!” Avani grinned mischievously, making all three of them burst into laughter.
“Okay, so where are we going?” Saira asked, excitement dancing in her eyes.
“We need a place that’s a mix of tradition and modern vibes. Something relaxing but fun,” Avani suggested thoughtfully.
“How about Varanasi? It’s religious but has great cafes and restaurants too!” Saira chimed in.
“Or Jaipur? The palaces, the food, and the vibe…” Avani added.
Ishika, who had been silent for a while, finally spoke up.
“No… I have a better idea. What about Udaipur? It’s beautiful, has great places to explore, and I know someone who owns hotels and restaurants there. I can ask him to arrange things for us.”
Both Avani and Saira’s faces lit up.
“Udaipur? That’s perfect!” they said in unison.
“I’ll handle the hotel and stay. You two manage the traveling and everything else.” Ishika declared, taking charge.
---
“So… should we leave next week?” Avani asked, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
“Next week?!” Saira whined, pouting like a child. “That’s too long!”
“Pagal ladki, we need time to sort out work, make travel arrangements, and confirm the hotel and we can't leave the project just like this!"Ishika said, shaking her head at Saira’s impatience.
“Haan haan… I know! I was just saying,” Saira mumbled, making Avani chuckle.
“Next week, is it then!?” Avani said,
“Yes!” both Ishika and Saira said together, sealing the plan.
After finalizing their trip to Udaipur, the three best friends spent the rest of the evening laughing and making plans.
Little while later, all three went to their rooms to get their much needed rest.
But as the night grew darker, Avani’s mind wandered back to the stable… back to Blaze.
A strange uneasiness settled in her heart as she recalled their conversation.
“Kya baat hai, Blaze… Aaj itna restless kyun ho?” she asked, recalling how Blaze had been acting differently earlier. His eyes, usually filled with warmth, had held something else today.
Fear....
Avani brushed the thought aside, convincing herself that it was nothing. But deep down, a nagging feeling whispered that something was about to change… something they wasn’t prepared for, the cool breeze brushing against her face carried an unspoken warning—this trip to Udaipur might not be as simple as they thought.
